In this website we can find a lot of books and their content. In our case, we will concern in the book called: "Investing in Stocks and Shares" which talks about finnancial concepts like dividends…So we can interpret that the author of this book, the doctor John White, try to explain the complexity of the terms of the bussines world and the internal working of the company.
We can appreciate seven different parts or finnancial concepts: Shares, the assets, Nominal Share value, The Dividend and its Cover, Price Yield, P/E Ratio, The Yield:
First of all, the text talks about the shares, this important parts of the companies involve a responsibility within the company allows its holder to vote, receive dividends…
Assets are then, they are the "possitive part" of a company including the cash, property… but taking into account the "negative part" of the company like debts…
Later, the nominal share value appear…The shares are the rate of the active part of the company, all the issued shares include that we call social capital or equity. We said that one of the options of the shareholder was to be able to vote, but there are some shares without voting rights, which receive dividends and benefits. The relevant to this decision is that the strategic decisions of the company stay in a small group of people. Therefore these shares without voting rights are often cheaper …
We can see the dividend and its cover… When a company has profits, some of them are intended to shareholders as dividends. As we say, not all profits are distributed, but most of them are reserved for different uses … Therefore be said that the dividend is covered by the remaining undistributed profits.
Other concept is P/E ratio. We can know the value of the benefit of an individual, by deducting the benefit of each acccion,the p/e ratio allows the time necessary to receive the share price gains with fixed earnings…
Finally, the yield. Another field to analyze the behavior of firms during the financial year you see a deduction of taxes and fees. this behavior and its extent in each country is below the average for each location …
