The purpose of this newspaper article was to show the readers how could social networks (like facebook, Myspace…) be useful to promote a company and, at the same time, a way of decrease and damage the company’s image.

This last is because, lately, members of the staff of the aerolines British Airways and Virgin Atlantic made comments in forums of facebook criticizing the safety standards of the company and even mocking of the passengers theirselves. The point is those members of the staff were not allowed to post any kind of comments about their works because they have signed a policy within their contracts that forbid it.
All of this make the managers of the affected companys got upset. And the writer of this article bring on conclusion that they should take measures such as monitoring online activity and frequent the “online waterring holes” in order to avoid this failures.
