Ram Charan was born in 1939 in Uttar Pradesh, India.
He began his financial career in his family shoe shop. Charan obtained engineer's degree at the Banaras Hindu University and later studied at Harvard Business School.
He is the coauthor of Execution and the author of What the CEO Wants You to Know and many other books. He worked with the most important CEOs in the world, in so many important and successfully companies like DuPont, Thomson Corporation, KLM or Bank of America.


Chad Holliday, the CEO of DuPont, realize of the economic crisis while he was visiting a CEO of Japanese company.
When he arrived to the EEUU Holliday summoned the six top leaders in his company. They decided to reduce cost and save cash. Holliday decided to take action the situation and to use a corporate crisis plan, this plan make 17 teams and only 9 stayed in the front because it was said that the crisis was only financial.
The communication with employees took several forms. Some of the answers to the problem were the cancellation of meetings and the reduction of business travel; however the more drastic measure was to reduce the number of outside contractors.
Chad Holliday answered the call for leadership and this is what every leader must do now.
